A Few of My Favorite Things

No, I won't be prancing around in my bedroom tearing down curtains to make tapestry dresses just not that talented with a needle and thread, but these are a few of my most favorite gifts this Christmas that helped make the holiday merry and bright. Thank you!

1. Love, love, love my infinity scarf!
2. Lots of brand new socks for Christmas. All of mine had holes in them - you'd think I was a pauper.
3. My boy picked out this beautiful glass bead holiday bracelet. He was smart; he had the store wrap it.
4. I'll be sporting these cool ballet slipper flats in the spring.
5. Nothing beats opening the mailbox and a magazine awaits.
6. My favorite cards this year - both handmade.
What were some of your favorite gifts you got this year that made your holiday a little merrier?

I got a new spray bottle for my 10 to 1 water-peroxide mix for use in the kitchen. I also got a timer for the stove so we can time how slow our electric stove is with cast iron burners that turn every thing to mush, a heavy duty flashlight for when we lose electricity out here. And my favorite--a dremel tool so I can start dremeling things.

Five or six years ago, when we were buying gifts for 16 people and the pile of gifts under the tree at our family gatherings was really quite ridiculous, and the kids were now teenagers, we decided to take the money we would have spent on our family and put it into a Salvation Army Hamper. The S.A. provides a list of families with the children's sex and age and gift ideas, and a list of food for the food hamper. We've turned it into a family event where we go out for lunch or dinner, depending on the time of day and it's quite a special occasion. Of course Santa still fills the children's stockings, because that's what Santa's always done. Family members who feel they really want to purchase a gift for us often buy goats, or chickens, or school supplies for needed people around the world.

This is incredibly amazing! We may adopt this ourselves!
